THE "GRANITE GROUP":

FUNDRAISING:

We have raised over $98,000 from 75% of homes so far. These funds, along with significant in-kind contributions from neighbors John Ellis, Dan Croyle, and Gwen Mastin, and the City of Tempe, were enough to complete the new monument signs, the repair, smooth stucco, and painting of exterior walls, and the new landscaping. Thank you to all who donated time and money to this incredible effort. As we are still hoping to repair the brick columns along Warner and would like a small amount to remain in the account for future maintenance as needed, we continue to accept contributions for the CDSENA, LLC.

HISTORY:

In April 2007 the Extreme Makeover! Committee was established to update the perimeter walls, signs and landscaping of our neighborhood.  This effort, scheduled to be completed in August, will require financial commitments, in-kind contributions, and volunteer efforts from each of our homeowners.

The issues were:

THE PROCESS:

Phase I – Design COMPLETE! (Cost $2,500)

Under the leadership of Mary Anne Kuhn, Creative Environments created the biddable design for walls, signs, and landscaping.  We needed to :

·         Keep/enhance/power wash the brick as it is consistent with our architecture

·         Put the majority of the funds into redesigning the signs – new wall, metal letters, lit up, no planters

·         Place a layer of brick on top of existing wall for esthetic purposes

·         Replace stucco with smooth surface

·         Repaint with an updated color to complement the brick

Phase II– Sign Design and Construction (Estimated Cost $52,000 including landscaping and lighting) SCHEDULED TO BEGIN JULY 30, 2007

Sign designs have been reviewed and finalized by the committee with neighborhood input.  Thank you for all of your comments and feedback.

Construction will begin when permits are pulled.

Colors will be chosen by the committee with community input.

Cost for all six corners including new sign walls, letters, lighting and landscape is estimated to be approximately $45,000.

Phase II – Wall Stucco and Paint

Due to a insufficient funds, we will not be replacing damaged wall panels. Instead the entire length of Warner and McClintock will be repaired, re-stuccoed and painted the new color. Hopefully we will also have enough money to power wash the brick pillars along Warner.

Phase IV - Landscaping

65 plants were removed during the excavation and will be replaced by the City of Tempe.  Additional plants will be added as funds are available in accordance with the design plans from Creative Environments and City of Tempe specifications.  Tempe is also providing granite that will be spread across all landscaped areas.

ESTIMATED COST: $100,000
